Previously Burr worked under the alias Hooliganship and founded the video label Cartune Xprez through which he produced hundreds of live multimedia exhibitions and touring programs showcasing a multi-generational group of artists at the forefront of experimental animation. These pieces have been presented internationally by various institutions including Documenta 14, Athens MoMA PS1, New York and The Barbican Centre, London. His practice often engages with tools of the video game industry in the form of immersive cinematic artworks. A master of computer animation with a gift for creating images and environments that hover on the boundary between abstraction and figuration, Burr has in recent years devoted himself to exploring the concept of an endlessly mutating labyrinth. Ultimately, I’m committed to using a language we all speak: body.
I use stylized dreamscape to investigate outlying worlds, searching for common ground and signals of luminosity. Recent experiences living in and out of the disability world have taught me about the potent mechanisms of stillness and pain.
I collaborate with artists (keen on risk) and performers (trained, untrained, disabled, able-bodied, mature, green etc.) to cultivate loud and subtle virtuosity.

I execute projects similarly to choreography- through disciplined trial and error. Imagine a heady cocktail of David Lynch and Anne Carson, bespoke suits, neon cut-out one-pieces, sweat, esoterica, and the wabisabi shelfscape of my end-of-week fridge. Platform agnostic, I’m a sucker for genre mashups and hybrid forms. My stories deliver visceral impressions through what is felt but doesn’t fit into words-where just like in dance, imagination and subtext are key.
